THE GREAT ILLUSION

illusion_by_AzNSh0rTi86There is a great weakness in man disguised as a strength and a great strength often masked as a weakness.

The great weakness that is mistaken for strength is “feeling that we don’t need anyone”, the dream of self-made man, we want to do and achieve everything on our own, apart from this being very hard and next to impossible (even those who claim to be self-made have had a lot of help along the way, Bill Gates couldn’t have run Microsoft by himself) but the worst effect of this type of so called strength is that it leads to segregation. People being alone, rejoicing at their brothers downfall, trying to be on top of everyone. The root cause of pride and greed.

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Whoever has pride in his heart equal to the weight of a mustard seed shall not enter Paradise.” Someone asked, “A person likes to wear beautiful clothes and fine shoes.” He replied, “Allah is beautiful and likes beauty. Pride means rejecting the truth and looking down on other people.” [Sahih Muslim]

On the other hand; the Great strength that is masked as weakness is ” the feeling that we need others”, the understanding that we need each other, and working together towards similar goals is what has led to all human development, it is that which leads to true progress in humanity. NO empire was built by just one man. It is this feeling that enjoins brotherhood and helping one another and wanting for your brother what you want for yourself.

The Messenger of Allah said: “None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.” [al-Bukhari, Muslim]
